Atlanta, GA – ‘The Academy’ 2002 team put on some great performances in all three games at the Atlanta Fire United Select Elite tournament this weekend. On Saturday they defeated the host clubs Gold team and their Elite team by 3-2 and 1-0 respectively. On Sunday they were squeezed out of the final by the Concorde Atlanta Fire South team by 0-2. It was a very competitive tournament experience and the players did themselves proud against top quality opposition in all three games. “To come out with two wins was satisfying but to be so close to winning the group was disappointing all the same. But again, it was performance and development over winning and losing, and in that way it was exactly what we needed” explained coach Carl Reynolds.
