Our Story

Welcome to Southern States Soccer, a premier soccer organization founded in 2015 by Nigel Boulton, a former collegiate and professional soccer coach. Nigel's vision, combined with the support of a dedicated group of investors, aimed to revolutionize soccer opportunities in our local area and region.

Nigel's partnership with Carl Reynolds, a former All-American player and successful collegiate coach, marked the beginning of an incredible journey. With Carl's extensive experience, including coaching stints in Spain's La Liga and Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls, the duo set out to create something extraordinary.

Joined by Paul Roblin, a seasoned administrator and former youth soccer club President, they laid the foundation for Southern States Soccer. Their shared belief that local clubs were falling short in providing elite training and development opportunities became the driving force behind our organization.

"Our objective is clear: to offer local youth the chance to pursue their passion for soccer at an elite level," declared President Paul Roblin at the inaugural player signing banquet in 2016.

Southern States Soccer adopted the motto 'Partum In Futurum' - 'Creating the Future', embodying our commitment to shaping tomorrow's soccer stars.

Located at The Oakes Training Center, our state-of-the-art facilities include a futsal training center alongside floodlit turf and grass fields. Here, Carl Reynolds leads 'The Academy', bringing together top-tier players from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Under Carl's direction, 'The Academy' offers elite-level training, international exposure, and opportunities for player development. Nigel Boulton, along with a team of experienced coaches including Carl's sister Jade Reynolds, ensures every player receives professional guidance and mentorship.

In addition to our flagship program, we established the Player Development Center (PDC) to nurture mid-level players' growth, preparing them for potential entry into 'The Academy'.

Our commitment to soccer excellence extends to all age groups. In 2019, we launched the Little Kickers and Pre-Academy programs catering to 4-8-year-olds, laying the groundwork for their soccer journey.

Jade Reynolds, with her extensive background playing for England's Arsenal Ladies and collegiate experience at the NCAA D-1 College of Charleston, leads our girl's program with passion and expertise.

Beyond our programs, Southern States Soccer is dedicated to supporting small groups and organizations, fostering a vibrant soccer community.

Looking ahead, 2020 saw further enhancements as we ventured into the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). Our U19 team, 'The Stars', commenced play, with plans to introduce a minor league team to the Hattiesburg and Pine area in 2021, known as the Southern States SC Stars.

At Southern States Soccer, our mission is clear: to cultivate a culture of excellence and passion for the beautiful game, shaping the future of soccer in our community and beyond.
