Winston-Salem, North Carolina – Following three tough days of competition ‘The Academy’ boys teams returned to Mississippi a little battered and bruised but a whole lot wiser. The US Club Soccer Regionals were competitively strong, physically strong and required mental strength as well. Manny Sanchez (01) suffered a broken collarbone, Keller Kratz (02) a broken arm and Zac Rheinhart (05) a suspected broken wrist. We had a few bruised ego’s too.
The 05’s won one and lost two. Many thanks to goalkeeper ‘Pasca’ Diego Pascali for his good work and for forming a new friendship.
The 01’s went 1-1-1 with Barnes Benton playing his last game and scoring his last goal for us on Monday. Barnes was our only senior on the field.
Many emotions abound both individually, as coaches and as a team. Both teams were young with players aging up and this will be a great experience for them all. To all who have stuck by us on this year’s journey it’s has been an honor and we are proud of you all.
Onward to 2019/20. Still ‘Creating the Future’.
