Mobile, Ala. –  Julian Avila notched the only goal of the game as the Stars won a third consecutive game by 1-0. Despite the closeness of the shoreline the Stars dominated possession and with it, AFC Mobile The Stars’ defense was again unyielding with the opposition attacks.

The goal itself was the class part of a hard fought and physical battle. Tom Shepherd directed a cross field ball to Danny Reynolds on the opposite wing and the lefty took the ball on before crossing low and hard and finding Julian Avila racing in to drive the ball forcefully across the Mobile ‘keeper and into the far corner of the net. It was an astounding first time finish, worthy of winning the game.

Except for a barrage of long balls in the finals 10 minutes as Mobile desperately tried to find some offensive power to unlock the Stars back line, the home team failed to create any chances of note and Hector Grejeda in the Stars goal had a quiet night, dealing with rudimentary plays and dealing with them all admirably.

The Mobile team racked up a number of yellow cards evidence of their frustrations and lack of discipline. The only surprise was that the Stars could manage no more than the one first half goal given their overwhelming possession.

Now at 7-3 the Stars move on to play in-state rivals Port City in Gulfport on Saturday, 19 June.
