The Oakes Training Center, Oak Grove, Miss.  –  Southern States S.C. Stars have announced the signing of Senegalese-born attacker Papi Diouf.  The 6′ 2″ Diouf has pace and speed as well as being a skillful player with bags of flair. Diouf played collegiate ball at the University of Louisville and Cal State-Northridge.

“When Papi Diouf arrived in Connecticut in 2011, he was immediately struck by one thing: the cold. “The breeze, the white, the cold, the ice,” said Diouf, then 13 years old. “That hit me first — and now I know I’m not in Senegal no more.”A native of Thiès, Senegal, Diouf came to the United States after being offered a scholarship to play soccer for Avon Old Farms, a boarding school just outside of Hartford, Connecticut. Soccer runs in Diouf’s blood. His father grew up playing the sport and his brother plays professionally in Sweden”. (Andres Soto, Next Generation Radio – click on the link below for full story).

Diouf has played in England and Dubai since leaving college, he has been working hard to break into the professional game on a full-time basis. This latest stop in Oak Grove, Mississippi is his current layover while chasing his dream. This quiet, respectful young man has plenty of miles under his belt along this journey. He now joins our journey and we hope both Papi Diouf and the Stars can travel together toward success this summer.
