Stars ready for big two-game road trip
Jacksonville, Fla. – The Southern States SC Stars are in NPSL action tonight in Jacksonville, Florida against conference leaders the Jacksonville Armada. The game is the first of a two-game road trip which will see the Stars also visit the Florida Roots in Panama City on Thursday.
The Armada suffered their first loss of the season at AFC Mobile last Saturday and will be anxious to avoid a second defeat against their closest rivals the Stars. The Stars themselves are coming off a two-game loss to Pensacola FC. Both teams will be fighting hard to avoid another defeat, especially as they are closely linked at the head of the conference standings.
The Stars will be without attacking ace Andre Deas who will sit out after receiving a red card in the previous game. Coach Carl Reynolds still has enough forward strength on his roster to make up for the absence of Deas. The Armada are the highest goalscorers in the division with 14 goals from six games while the Stars boast the tightest defense having conceded only four goals in six games. It will be an intriguing battle between these two stats and the winner could be the team who upholds this best of division record at the end of play.
