Pan American Stadium, New Orleans, La. –Β  Β The Stars Under 19 team opened its spring NPSL season with a trip to New Orleans to take on the Jesters. This is becoming something of a rivalry for both teams and bragging rights were up for grabs in the first of three games the teams will play this term.

After a tight, close first half, the Jesters opened the scoring on 54 minutes to lead but the Stars came right back at them and eventually found a leveling goal on 67 minutes. The Stars were playing their best game after going behind and missed some good chances but Julian Avila Good’s equalizer from a Clint Ryals assist seemed to affect the Jesters who soon found themselves behind to Avila Good’s calmly finished penalty-kick on 74 minutes after Sam Dadzie had been fouled at a corner-kick.

The Stars saw the game out comfortably to return with all three points in hand.

Next up is a home opener on Wednesday, March 17thv at 7.30 pm against in-state rivals Port City FC.
