The Oakes Training Center, Oak Grove, Miss. –  Academy teams in both boys and girls divisions had a successful weekend in the Alliance Open Cup .

Our youngest 2011/12 boys group were the champions in their bracket winning on all four games. The 2009 team followed suite with four wins and a championship of their own and the 2007’s won three in claiming the title. Our oldest team the 2005/6 team won three and tied one losing out on the champions title on goal differential.

Coach Carl Reynolds was delighted with all the teams, “…their willingness to ask questions regarding their development, mixed with their confidence to practice what’s being asked, without the worry of making mistakes. This is exactly what our club is about. Our coaching staff continue to push these principals and I couldn’t be prouder of them all”.

Jade Reynolds took two girls teams to the Alliance Open Cup which was also used as a tribute and memorial to former Mississippi standout youth coach Gray Massey.

The girls entered a team in the 2002 bracket that contained predominantly 2004 and 2005 players and just three 2003’s. Despite this they reached the final losing out to AFC. The 2006/07 team played up in the 2005 bracket and despite a difficult time gained valuable experience over the weekend.

Southern States Soccer continues to bio-band and stretch our player’s performances by playing up in age groups.
